Benazir Ahmed takes office as IGP

Dr Benazir Ahmed has taken the charge as the new Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) today.
He is the 30th IGP of Bangladesh Police.
Earlier in the day, Benazir Ahmed was adorned with rank badge at Ganobhaban in the presence of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Before his appointment as the IGP, Benazir Ahmed served as the Director General of elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) since 2015.
Earlier on April 8, Benazir Ahmed was appointed as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP). The Home Ministry issued a notification on the day saying that the appointment will come into effect on April 15.
He has served in various important positions in the country's law enforcement agencies, including as chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
