Awami League should have taken permission to hold rally: CEC
The chief election commissioner said this at his office in Agargaon on Thursday
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda has said the ruling party Awami League should have taken permission for holding rallies and processions in various wards in Dhaka city on Thursday.
He told this to the newsmen at the Election Commission office in Agargaon on Thursday.
The CEC said "I have heard Awami League is holding rallies as a part of preparation for the Mujib Barsho. They had not informed us. Even if they said anything about the election in the rallies, there is nothing specifically written in the code of conduct regarding it."
"However, I think they should not have held the rallies ahead of the election. They could have taken permission from us," he added.
