Daily Covid-19 death toll drops below 30 again
As of Friday, 12,310 people have lost their lives to Covid-19
After four consecutive days with more than 30 Covid-19 fatalities, Bangladesh reported a declining number of daily deaths on Friday.
In the preceding 24 hours, 26 people succumbed to the viral disease, taking the death count to 12,310 in the country. However, the fatality rate remained unchanged to 1.56% in the corresponding period, according to a release provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 1,504 more people contracted the virus during this period, which took the case count to 7,86,698.
Also, the positivity rate was recorded at 8.22% after testing 18,294 samples in 482 labs across the country.
Among the latest day's victims, 19 were men, and seven were women. All the victims died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, 10 of the deceased hailed from Khulna division, six from Chattogram, four from Rajshahi, three from Dhaka and one each from Sylhet, Ranpur and Mymensingh divisions.
Also, 1,529 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.67% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 8,903 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,407 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
The number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases recorded in India in the last 24 hours dipped to 2.59 lakh, the Union health ministry data showed on Friday. With this, the nationwide tally reached 26,031,991, reports Hindustan Times.
The daily fatality count is 4,209, according to the health ministry update at 8am. This pushed the nationwide death toll up to 291331.
Covid-19 has claimed 3,446,067 lives worldwide and infected 165,889,879 so far, according to the data provided by Worldometer.
