Two cases were filed against former Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur at Cumilla's Muradnagar and Bangra Bazar police stations on Sunday night under Digital Security Act.

The cases were filed for hurting religious sentiment and making provocative remarks on Facebook criticizing Awami League, confirmed Sadequr Rahman, officer-in-charge of Muradnagar police station on Monday.

According to a source, the cases were filed by Muradnagar upazila Awami SechaSebok League Member Secretary Selim Sarkar and Bangra Bazar Awami SechaSebok League Joint Convener Rasel Mia.

"We have received a written complaint against VP Nur," said Md KamruzzamanTalukdar, officer-in-charge of Bangra Bazar police station.

"As many cases filed for the same complaint in different police stations throughout the country, next step will be taken after discussing with higher authorities," he added.
