Soon after the National University announced the new schedules for examinations, police have dispersed the protesting students from Shahbagh area on Thursday afternoon.
Students alleged that police attacked them and took away their loud speakers.
The students were protesting there against government decision of postponing their examinations.
Police detained more than 15 students from the spot since morning.
Meanwhile, the National University authorities has announced new schedules for all postponed examinations.
All the postponed examinations will be taken as per the revised schedule from 24 May, according to a press release of the National University.
Earlier in the day, a group of NU students tried to block Shahbagh intersection, but police dispersed them and detained 11 from there.
Later, more than a hundred students took position in front of Public Library at 11.45am, within one hour of the detention of fellow students.
Earlier on 22 February, the National University authorities postponed all sorts of examinations until further notice.
On the same day, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said the government has decided to reopen the public and private universities on 24 May. The residential halls of public universities will be reopened on 17 May.
