One more dies from Covid-19, 33 test positive in 24 hours in Narayanganj
Some 58 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered and returned home in the city
One more people died from coronavirus infection in Narayanganj in the last 24 hours. With this the number of deaths stands at 52, the district civil surgeon office said today.
During the same time, 33 more have tested positive for the virus, taking the total number of positive cases to 1,156.
Of the total infected people, 627 were from the city corporation area, 366 from Sadar upazila, 33 from Sonergaon upazila, 28 from Araihazar upazila, 26 from Bandar upazila and 16 from Rupganj upazila, according to the civil surgeon office.
Some 58 Covid-19 patients have so far recovered and returned home.
Among the death cases, 37 were from the city corporation area, 11 from Sadar upazila, two from Sonergaon and one each from Bandar and Rupganj.
The district confirmed its first coronavirus infection on March 8 and the first death on March 30.
Meanwhile, around 350 garment factories have reopened in Narayanganj industrial area. That is why, public gatherings continue to rise in the city defying social distancing norms with limited patrolling of law enforcement agencies. People in all localities are not caring about lockdown rules.
The number of private cars, microbuses and three-wheelers plying roads also continues to rise. Shops in many markets have reopened and many others are preparing to reopen.
