Bangladesh logged 19 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours as of Thursday 8am.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 7,378, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In the meantime, 1,234 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 506,102.
Today's infection rate was 9.33% of the total tests, though the overall rate in the country till date is 16.14%. The death rate stands at 1.46%.
2,345 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the same period, raising the total number of recoveries to 446,690, with an 88.26% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 15 were men and four were women. 17 died in different hospitals across the country, while two died at home.
Moreover, 11 hailed from Dhaka, four from Chattogram, one from Khulna, and three from Mymensingh.
Meanwhile, 13,227 samples were tested in 163 labs across the country in the past 24 hours as of Thursday morning. A total of 3,135,653 samples have been tested in the country so far.
According to the gender breakdown of Covid-19 infections, 5,622 of the total deceased were men and 1,756 were women.
The country's first Covid-19 case was reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
Global death toll rises to 1,740,358
The novel coronavirus has killed at least 1,740,358 people since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to the Worldometer at 06.55 GMT on Thursday.
At least 79,187,736 cases of coronavirus have been registered. Of these, at least 55,796,199 are now considered recovered.
As of Thursday, 3,638 new deaths and 151,079 new cases were recorded worldwide.
