Bangladesh reports 28 more Covid deaths, 1,354 new cases
Bangladesh reported 28 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 12,376.
During this period, the fatality rate was 1.57%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 1,354 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the case count to 7,89,080.
In the preceding 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 8.90% after testing 15,205 samples in 486 labs across the country.
Among the latest day's victims, 20 were men, and eight were women. Of them, 27 died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.
Moreover, 10 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, seven from Chattogram, five from Sylhet, three from Barishal, two from Rangpur and one from Mymensingh division.
Also, 899 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.60% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 8,948 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,428 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
India recorded 2,40,842 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of cases to 26,530,132, according to the Union health ministry update on Sunday morning, reports Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, 3,741 fatalities were also recorded in the same timespan; the pandemic has claimed 2,99,266 lives so far, according to the health ministry's update at 8am.
As of Sunday, 3,469,436 people globally succumbed to the viral disease and so far 167,070,918 people contracted the virus, according to data provided by Worldometer.
