‘Bangladesh is a conducive destination for business and investments’
Businessmen from Bangladesh and Canada urged to come forward to expand the trade activities
At present, Bangladesh offers business-friendly incentives and benefits for foreign investors, said speakers at a seminar recently in Calgary city of Alberta province in Canada.
The seminar titled "Bangladesh: Your Destination for Investment and Trade" was organised by Bangladesh High Commission to Canada.
Highlighting the gradual development of Bangladesh, speakers at the seminar requested the businessmen from both the countries to come forward to expand the trade activities between the Alberta region of Canada and Bangladesh.
Mizanur Rahman, Bangladesh envoy to Canada, chaired the seminar.
In his speech, Mizanur said, "Bangladesh is a conducive destination for business and investments, as encouraged by its government."
Canadian Parliament Member Jasraj Singh Hallan said that the countries share a strong bilateral relationship in trade. This was the time to take it to the next level, he added.
The seminar participants also highlighted various business and investment opportunities in their presentations.
Professor Anis Haque said, investment in education can lead to long-term success.
He also highlighted the possibility of setting up solar cell manufacturing plant in Bangladesh as a joint venture with Canada to ensure rapid expansion of solar energy.
Regarding Information Technology (IT), Dr Tasfin Hossain portrayed the quality and success rate of IT education in Bangladesh and emphasised on the investment potential in the sector.
Alongside the seminar, Bangladesh High Commission to Canada also provided a three-day-long consular services to the Bangladeshi expatriates in Calgary.
