Samorita Hospital opens Covid-19 unit
There are 20 ICU beds equipped with sufficient ventilation system and high flow oxygen machine
MH Samorita Hospital and Medical College opened Covid-19 unit on June 28 to join the fight against the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
There are 20 ICU beds equipped with sufficient ventilation system and high flow oxygen machine. The isolation unit has 50 beds.
"People of Bangladesh are like my family members. MH Samorita Hospital and Medical College and I are ready to fight against global pandemic Covid-19. The Covid-19 unit is equipped with latest technologies, following all the guidelines of the World Health Organisation," said Ahsanul Islam Titu, chairman of the hospital.
"We are proud to have a Covid-19 unit and we hope we will win against the virus," he added.
The principal of the college Professor Dilip Kumar Dhor said their main focus was to provide medical treatment for the Covid-19 patients, which was the dream of the former chairman Alhaz Mockbul Hossain.
A specialised medical board has been formed in the hospital with best cardiologists, kidney and liver specialists, and critical care specialists who are operating the unit. Apart from them, Indian critical care specialist Dr Rajesh Chandra Misra has been involved as a critical care advisor, he informed.
The head of operation Md Nasir Uddin said the authorities had a plan to increase the capacity of the ICU to 50 beds.
