BNP delegation meets IGP

A four-member delegation of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) met Benazir Ahmed BPM (Bar), inspector general of Bangladesh Police (IGP), at the police headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

During the meeting, BNP leaders discussed with the IGP regarding the permission to hold a nationwide programme to celebrate the golden jubilee of the country's independence in March.

The delegation has also sought cooperation and security at the programmes, said a press release.

At the end of the discussion, the IGP advised the delegation to seek permission of local police authorities for each programme and venue inside and outside Dhaka.

The IGP also requested BNP leaders to hold the programmes at indoor venues, by following proper hygiene rules due to Covid-19 pandemic.

BNP chairperson's advisers Abdus Salam and Bijan Kanti Sarkar, central publicity secretary of BNP Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and its Liberation War affairs secretary Colonel (retd) Zainul Abedin were present at the meeting.
