A 6-year-old boy has died after receiving measles-rubella vaccine in Chattogram's Lohagara upazila.
The deceased was identified as Nawrat Hanif, son of a Bangladeshi expatriate Mohammad Shimul.
The incident took place on Sunday at the Chairman Bari Vaccination Center in Uttar Kalauzan Sikder Para of the upazila.
A three-member probe committee was formed headed by the district civil surgeon to look into the incident.
Chattogram District Civil Surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told The Business Standard that he had received a complaint that a child had died in Lohagara half an hour after being vaccinated.
At that vaccination center, 90 people were vaccinated for measles and rubella.
Out of the 90 people, 10 people, including the child, were vaccinated by the same vaccine.
He said, "All the other children who received the vaccine are doing better. As the allegations have been raised, a three-member investigation committee has been formed to look into the incident. The committee will submit its report within the next 7 days."
Meanwhile, due to the allegations, all activities of the vaccination center have been suspended for the next three days.
At the same time, the health assistants of the vaccination center have been withdrawn from the vaccination program, said the district civil surgeon.
