At least four prison guards have been injured in a clash with intruders at the Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur.
Officer-in-charge of Konabari Police Station Abu Siddique said three outsiders involved in the incident were arrested on Saturday night.
The injured prison guards have been admitted to Shaheed Tazuddin Ahmad Medical College & Hospital in Gazipur.
According to police and the case statement, eight or nine youths entered the Kashimpur Central Jail by crossing the boundary wall on the east side.
At that time, Ershad Hossain, the prison guard of Kashimpur Jail-2, nabbed and interrogated them, to which the youths said that they had entered the jail to pick mangoes.
The conversation led to a scuffle between the two parties. When Ershad's colleagues came forward to his rescue, the outsiders escaped.
The injured Ershad Hossain later filed a case against eight naming three of the miscreants at the Konabari Police Station.
The police said that the process of sending the arrestees - Abdul Karim, Md Nayeem, Md Zaman - to the Gazipur court was underway.
