All India Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who recently witnessed a landslide victory in the West Bengal state elections, anticipated a stronger bond among the Bengali people in the region.

On May 6, responding to the greetings sent by Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her victory, Mamata said "Although there is a visible border between the two Bengal regions, we are very close to each other in perspectives and tradition."

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent Mamata a letter congratulating her for her party's biggest political victories in the past three decades.

Thanking the PM, Mamata said "This is not only a win for people but also a victory of unity, peace, harmony, culture, civilization and brotherhood"

Hoping to work together in the future, she stated that "We've worked together in the past ten years and will continue in the future. We will deliver proper respect to the trust that people of Bengal have shown us."

She also greeted the PM Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana Siddiq and all Bangladeshis.

Mamata took oath as Chief Minister of West Bengal on May 6, for a third term after leading her party to a landslide victory in the assembly elections of West Bengal, results of which were declared on Sunday (May 2).
