Mobile Court fines JTI Tk 10,000 in Rajshahi

A mobile court has fined Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Taka 10,000 on charge of violating the government instruction of shutting down office in the city today (Wednesday).

On a tip-off, Executive Magistrate Saila Sayeed Tanny conducted a sudden drive in a depot of the company at Upashahar area and found the office remained open this noon violating the government instruction.

Subsequently, the magistrate fined Mezbahul Islam, Territory Officer of the JTI, on the spot.

Magistrate Tonny told journalists that such type of drive will continue against violations of the government instructions in the days to come as the government is adamant to fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
