Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division secy dies of Covid-19

Naren Das, secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, has passed away after contracting the novel coronavirus.

He breathed his last at 7:15pm today in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital (BSMMU), the ministry's Public Relations Officer Dr Md Rezaul Karim told The Business Standard.

Noren Das was admitted to the hospital along with his wife after they developed breathing problems on July 5.

They were diagnosed with coronavirus infection on July 7 and were under treatment there since then.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Naren Das. She prayed for eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
