Former additional chief medical officer of BCIC dies of Covid-19

Dr Toufiqunnesa, former additional chief medical officer of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) died of Covid-19 on Monday night. 

She was being treated in the capital's Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Dr Rahat Anwer Choudhury, joint secretary of the Foundation for Doctors' Safety, Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR) told The Business Standard. 

She was a former student of Mymensingh Medical College.

So far, 35 doctors died of Covid-19 in the country. 5 more died with symptoms of Covid-19. 

Bangladesh today confirmed highest single-day jump in of 53 deaths from the novel coronavirus and record 3,862 new cases of infection testing 17,214 samples in the last 24 hours.

With this, the death toll from the deadly virus rose to 1,262 and the number of total infections stood at 94,481.
