Covid-19 claims 38 more lives, infects 1,043
The death toll reached 12,549 in the country
Bangladesh reported 38 more deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 12,549.
During this period, the fatality rate was 1.57%, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 1,043 more people were infected with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which took the case count to 7,97,386.
In the preceding 24 hours, the positivity rate was recorded at 7.91% after testing 13,184 samples in 502 labs across the country.
Among the latest day's victims, 28 were men, and 10 were women. Of the victims, 37 died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.
Moreover, eight of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, seven each from Rajshahi and Khulna, five from Sylhet, four each from Chattogram and Ranpur, two Mymensingh and one from Barishal division.
Also, 1,187 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.48% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 9,065 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,484 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
India on Saturday recorded 1,73,790 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the cumulative tally past 27.7 million, as the country recorded less than 200,000 cases for the third time in this month, according to the Union health ministry.
In the last 24 hours, at least 3,617 people have died due to coronavirus disease, data updated at 8am showed. A total of 322,512 people have succumbed to the virus in the country, according to the health ministry.
As of Saturday, 3,539,068 people globally succumbed to the viral disease and so far 170,186,396 people contracted the virus, according to data provided by Worldometer.
