Two teenage boys drowned in Kaptai Lake of Rangamati district on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Md Adnan, 14, and Md Angkan, 15.

Rangamati Fire Service official Nipun Chakma said that the boys, sons of two officials of Rangamati Forest Department, went to the lake in Kerani Pahar area of the district town around 12 noon for taking a bath.

"One of them knew how to swim but the other one did not," he said.

While taking a bath, one boy drowned in the lake. Another boy also drowned when he tried to save him, said the official.

Hearing screams of other children of the lake, locals rushed in and rescued the two teens from the water.

Later, they were brought to Rangamati General Hospital where doctors pronounced the duo dead.
