Professor M Mashiur Rahman has been appointed as National University's vice-chancellor.

Md Faizul Karim, acting director of National University's Public Relation department, confirmed the matter today. 

Earlier on March, Professor Mashiur was appointed as NU interim VC.

The term of the university's immediate past vice-chancellor Professor Harun-or-Rashid ended on 5 March .

Mashiur has been the pro-vice-chancellor of the university since 9 May, 2017. 

He is a professor of the Department of Sociology at Dhaka University. 

He earned a doctor of philosophy degree from Lund University in Sweden, where he also did his post-doctorate.
