Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the imam of Sardarbari Jame Mosque in capital's Dakkhinkhan for allegedly murdering and dismembering a man.

RAB media wing confirmed the matter on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Ajhaul Islam, 30, a resident of Dakkhinkhan who went missing on Thursday. He worked as an operator in an RMG factory.

His dismembered body was recovered from the septic tank of Sadarbari Jame Mosque on Monday night.

Earlier, RAB sources said the imam of the mosque was detained for questioning over the incident.
