SC verdict any day on life imprisonment

The Supreme Court (SC) will pronounce its verdict any day on the meaning and tenure of life imprisonment.
An Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain kept the judgement pending after concluding the hearing on Thursday.
Earlier, on April 11 the court appointed four eminent jurists as “amicus curiae” (friend of the court), to review the terms of life imprisonment.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam represented the state, while Advocate Khandaker Mahbub Hossain stood for the review.
The four appointed amicus curiae- Advocate AS Hasan Ariff, Barrister Rokanuddin Mahmud, Advocate Abdur Rezak Khan and Advocate Munsurul Hoque Chowdhury- placed their expert opinions over the issue.
