A Dhaka court today sentenced Assistant Revenue Officer of Customs, Excise & VAT Commissionerate Moniruzzaman to 16 years' imprisonment for using fake certificate of freedom fighter to get job.
Justice of Special Judge Court-7 Md Shahidul Islam passed the order.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to serve one year more rigorous imprisonment.
According to the case details the accused joined the job on May 11, 2014, as an assistant tax and vat commissioner in a freedom fighter quota.
The Anti-Corruption Commission received an allegation that the accused got the service through forgery.
Later, Anti-Corruption Commission filed a case with Ramna police station after an investigation on January 2015.
The Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission SM Golam Mawola Siddique pressed the charge sheet against the accused.
The court testified a total of 21 prosecution witnesses and passed the verdict.
