RAB detains 3 in Rajshahi with Tk 10 lakh worth fake notes

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday detained 3 suspects, after seizing counterfeit rupees along with printing equipment, in a raid in Rajshahi.
The suspects, namely, Rubel Hossain from Godagari; Jahangir Alam from Natore; and Mosaddek Hossain from Chapainawabganj, were arrested from a building near Ramchandrapur Bou Bazar area.
Confirming the matter, Sayeed Abdullah Al Murad of RAB-5 said: we had the building under surveillance for the past couple of days after receiving a tip off. A RAB team raided the building around 11am on Sunday, arresting the culprits and seizing (from them) counterfeit currency worth Tk 10 crore. Afterwards, the RAB team took them under their custody.
“Rupees were printed to be used to import cattle from India for the upcoming Eid-Ul-Adha. Transaction of Rupees increase during Eid, and the counterfeiters tries to use this opportunity,” said Sayeed Abdullah Al Murad.
One of the suspects, Rubel was arrested last year with Tk 1 crore worth of fake Rupees from Chapainawabganj.
