Arnab, Shusmita Anis collaborate for Nazrul’s ‘Joy Hok’
The musical film features Badhon as a woman who has been resurrected from death.
Popular singer Shusmita Anis and Shayan Chowdhury Arnob recently joined hands to produce a song about women empowerment through the song "Joy Hok", originally composed by rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
This song celebrates the 50th anniversary of independence by portraying the prevalence of women over evils, said a press release.
Directed by Piplu R Khan and composed by Arnob, the music video stars popular actress Azmeri Haque Badhon as the protagonist who portrays the different shades of sufferings.
It features Badhon as a woman who has been resurrected from death.
She transforms in different attires of different goddesses to showcase her sufferings. A defeated woman, a sufferer in nature, she abides by the art of disobedience.
She depicts the tale of oppressed humanity and e fights back, against her oppressors and the forces that held her.
The musical film is to celebrate the independence of women over evils, epitomizing a few powerful, yet forgotten goddesses.
"Joy Hok" was released on 24 March and is available for streaming on Sushmita Anis's YouTube channel and other digital platforms.
