Govt to appoint 2,000 doctors from 39th BCS non-cadre list
The government is going to appoint 2,000 doctors from the non-cadre waiting list of 39th Bangladesh Civil Services (BCS), who did not get any cadre position after passing the test, soon to join the frontline fight against the novel coronavirus.
"The Health Ministry will send the list to the President Abdul Hamid seeking approval for urgent appointment," said Additional Secretary Habibur Rahman Khan, the focal person of the ministry's media cell to prevent spreading fake news related to coronavirus pandemic in the country.
He also mentioned that 6,000 nurses will be recruited soon too.
Habibur Rahman Khan said, "Nine hospitals are currently dedicated for coronavirus treatment along with 2,700 beds. The International Convention City of Bashundhara (ICCB) will be converted into coronavirus hospital within 3/4 days, where 1,500-2,000 more patients can be treated. However no Covid-19 patient with serious condition will be treated here as there will be no ICU or ventilators."
"The eighth floor of the Mohakhali DCC Market will have 250-bed facility for treating the frontline fighters, who would get infected with coronavirus. Other floors will have 1,300-bed for general coronavirus patients," he added.
The official also assured that the number of hospitals and beds will be increased across country if needed.
