1,234 people tested positive for coronavirus till now in Chattogram and 45 died

Some 257 people have been tested positive for the coronavirus in Chattogram on Wednesday, which is highest cases detected in a day in the district.

Chattogram's Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, among the 257 newly infected people, 225 are from the port city and others are from different upazilas of Chattogram.

"239 samples were tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Disease (BITID). Of them 41 tested positive for the virus and all of them are from Chattogram. 373 samples were examined at Chattogram Medical College and Hospital's lab, of them 182 were diagnosed with Covid-19. They are from Chattogram, he added.

Civil surgeon also said, 96 samples were tested at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) lab and 28 tested positive for the virus. All of them are from Chattogram. Six people were diagnosed with Covid-19 at Cox's Bazar Medical College and Hospital lab.

According to the civil surgeon, 1,234 people tested positive for coronavirus till now in Chattogram and 45 died.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said, "The situation is deteriorating in Chattogram. Chattogrm was declared risky after the coronavirus outbreak started, but people are not following the health rules. People go out during the lockdown. There is no place for people in hospitals as numbers of patients' have risen. Till there is time to be aware. Otherwise, the situation will be deteriorated soon."
