Bangladesh reported 1,970 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours
With an 11.47% positivity rate of Covid-19 recorded on Monday, the country logged a higher number of daily infections in the last 24 hours.
Bangladesh reported 1,970 new cases of Covid-19 in a 24 hours span taking the total case count to 8,12,960.
Meanwhile, 30 more people succumbed to the virus pushing the death toll to 12,869. The deaths rate remain unchanged to 1.58% during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Also, 17,169 samples were tested in 510 labs across the country.
Among the latest day's victims, 19 were men, and 11 were women. Of the victims, 27 died in different hospitals across the country while three died at home.
Moreover, 11 of the deceased hailed from the Chattogram division, seven from Dhaka, four from Sylhet, three from Khulna, two each from Rajshahi and Mymensingh, and one from Rangpur division.
Also, 1,918 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.65% recovery rate.
The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 9,275 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,594 were women.
The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.
Covid-19 killed 3,744,514 people worldwide and infected 174,065,117 people since the outbreak.
