After traversing whole city, hospital staff learns he has Covid-19

Only the previous day, he went around the whole city on a motorbike with coronavirus symptoms.

Even, he did grocery shopping at Chowgachha kitchen market in Jashore. And all along, he was accompanied by his son.

Swapon Das, 40, a fourth class staff in Jashore 250-bed General Hospital, had been feeling fever and a sore throat for the last four days after he came in contact with Covid-19 patients at the hospital's isolation unit.

Although he gave a sample for a Covid-19 test on Wednesday, he was not maintaining any social distancing.

Just like any other day, he went on providing minor medical services, like dressing, to his neighbours and locals from his three-storied residence in Chowgachha. Around 20-30 people take health related minor services from Swapon every day.

At 11am today, he stopped acting carelessly only when the hospital authority informed him that he tested positive for the Covid-19. They asked him to stay home.

Even, Swapon's wife, also a staff of the hospital, attended her duty at the operation theatre of the hospital on Thursday, said Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Lutfunnahar.

Swapon's neighbours also complained that his family members are not paying any heed to anybody and roaming outside their house.

Samples will be collected from his family members on Saturday, and his house will be locked down, Dr Lutfunnahar said.
