Fatalities from the virus reaches 5,555
Bangladesh reported 31 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours until early Monday.
Fatalities from the virus reached 5,555, and the death rate stood at 1.46%, reads a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services.
In the past 24 hours, 1,472 people tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 379,738.
And 13,227 samples were tested in 109 labs over the same period. Overall, 2,084,222 samples have been tested in Bangladesh since detection of the first cases.
The latest daily infection rate was 11.13%, while the overall rate stood at 18.22%.
However, the number of recovered patients reached 294,391 – including 1,531 new ones in the last 24 hours – and the recovery rate rose to 77.52%.
Of the deceased, 19 were men and 12 women. And twenty-two of them were from Dhaka division, four from Chattogram, two each from Sylhet and Mymensingh, and one from Rangpur.
So far, 4,275 men and 1,280 women in Bangladesh have died from Covid-19.
The country first detected Covid-19 cases on 8 March this year and reported the first death from the virus on 18 March.
