Daily infection rate stays below 5% for last 15 days

Bangladesh reported 3.63% daily infection rate on Tuesday as 525 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Tuesday 8am.
The Covid-19 daily infection rate in the country has remained below 5% for the last 15 days. The last time the daily infection rate was above the benchmark was on 18 January this year, when the country reported that 5.49% of the samples tested positive.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh logged 12 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
The country's death toll from the virus now stands at 8,149 and the death rate stands at 1.52%, said a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The number of novel coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 536,107.
During the last 24 hours, 512 patients were declared free of Covid-19, raising the total number of recoveries to 480,728 with an 89.67% recovery rate.
Among the latest day's victims, 11 were men and one was women. All of them died in different hospitals across the country.
Moreover, six of them hailed from Dhaka, one each from Chattogram, Barishal, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions and two from Rajshahi.
In the past 24 hours 14,452 samples were tested in 206 labs across the country. So far, 3,678,649 samples have been tested in the country.
The gender breakdown of Covid-19 victims shows that 6,177 of the total deceased were men and 1,972 were women.
The country's first Covid-19 cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March, 2020.
