Cumilla University student killed as bus hits autorickshaw
The accident took place at about 2.30 PM when a bus crashed into an autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway, leaving autorickshaw passenger Sujan dead on the spot
A student of Cumilla University was killed and 10 others were injured when a bus hit an autorickshaw in Burichang upazila of Cumilla on Friday afternoon.
The deceased, Sujan, 20, was a student of accounting department of Cumilla University and an inhabitant of Rupuddi village of Burichang upazila.
Police quoting local people said the accident took place at about 2.30 PM when a bus of Ena Paribahan crashed into an autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway near Kabila area, leaving autorickshaw passenger Sujan dead on the spot. Four other passengers of the autorickshaw, including Sujan's mother, and six passengers of the bus were also injured in the accident and were taken to nearby Kabila Eastern Medical College Hospital. Later, Sujan's mother and autorickshaw driver were shifted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital as their condition was stated to be critical.
Sub-Inspector of Moinamati highway police Tipu Roy said the body of Sujan was taken away by his relatives before police reached the scene.
