Police arrest 4 miscreants with fake stamps worth Tk18cr
The arrestees have been making fake stamps for a long time and supplying them to different parts of the country including Dhaka city
The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested four miscreants after conducting raids at factories which produced fake stamp papers, postage stamps, and court fee documents.
Cops from the Ramna zone (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police detained them on Thursday from Paltan area in the capital and the Ashulia area.
The arrestees were identified as Md Ashrafuzzaman, Md Morsalin Sordar Sohel, Md Roni Sheikh, and Md Abdul Aziz.
During the raids, the police seized fake stamp papers, postage stamps, and court fee documents worth Tk18 crore. They also confiscated a computer, a printer, and three sewing machines from them.
On the next day, AKM Hafiz Akter, additional commissioner (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police appeared in a press conference where he told reporters that the arrestees have been making fake stamps for a long time and supplying them to different parts of the country including Dhaka city.
The accused also gave confessional statements to police in this regard, the police official said.
The police filed a case against these miscreants with the Paltan Model police station under the Special Power Act.
