Passenger held with 1,800 yaba pills at Shah Amanat Airport

The airport authorities at Shah Amanat International Airport Chattogram have detained a passenger with the charges of possessing 1,800 pieces of yaba pills on Thursday afternoon.

The detainee was identified as Shahidul Islam, 24, a resident of Chakaria upazila under Cox's Bazar district.

Detained Shahidul was a passenger on a US-Bangla Airlines flight from Chattogram to Dhaka. The yaba pills were discovered while scanning his bag at the airport.

"The officials at the airport were confirmed that Shahidul was carrying something illegal. Later, the members of the Armed Police Battalion found 1,800 pieces of yaba after searching his bag," Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport's Managing Director Wing Commander ABM Sarwar E Jaman told The Business Standard.

Shahidul Islam will be handed over to Patenga Police Station, he added.
