A Cox's Bazar court on Wednesday placed Constable Rubel Sharma on another 5-day remand in connection with the murder of retired Army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan.

The court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah has granted the remand in the second phase following an 8-day remand application by the investigating officer of the case.

The investigating officer Khairul Alam, assistant superintendent of police, RAB-15 confirmed the matter to The Business Standard.

"Rubel revealed many information regarding the case on the previous 7-day remand.

That's why an additional 8-day remand was requested to get more information." said Khairul, added.

According to sources, Rubel Sharma was the last of the 14 accused in the Sinha murder case.

Earlier on September 14, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Constable Rubel Sharma, the lattermost arrestee, over the Sinha murder case.

On September 30, the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah granted Rubel Sharma a seven-day remand following a 10-day remand application by investigating officer of the case.He was remanded in custody on October 2.

Retired major Sinha was killed in police firing at Shamlapur police check-post at Teknaf's Baharchhara union, on Cox's Bazar Marine Drive, on the night of July 31.

Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, Sinha's elder sister, filed a case at the Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court on August 5 over the murder.

On August 6, seven members of police surrendered to the court. In the last one month, RAB arrested 14 people, including 3 members of Units Armed Police Battalion (APBN), and remanded them for various terms.
