3 to walk gallows, 4 jailed for life in Rajshahi double murder
Previous enmity over a piece of disputed land was the main reason behind the double murder.
A Rajshahi court today sentenced three people to death and four to life imprisonment for killing a woman and her son in Bagmara upazila in 2014.
Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Judge Anup Kumar pronounced the verdict around 11am in presence of the accused.
Death convicts are Abul Hossain, 52, Habibur Rahman, 40, and Abdur Razzaque, 35. Life timers are Abdullah Al Kafi, 22, Ruhul Amin, 30, Rustam Ali, 26, and Monirul Islam, 23. The court also fined Tk 10,000 each, in default; they have to serve six more months' imprisonment.
The convicts have been sent to Rajshahi Jail after the verdict.

Aklima Begum and her son Jahid Hasan was slaughtered at midnight of November 24 in 2014 in Deula village.
Dulal Hossain, elder son of Aklima, filed a case with Bagmara Police Station the following morning.
After examining the recorded depositions of 55 prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidences, the tribunal handed down the verdict, Entajul added.
