A 140-member team of Bangladesh Police has left Dhaka to join the United Nations' Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
They left the country on a special Bangladesh Biman flight on Friday night, said a media release.
Commander (Superintendent of Police) Belal Uddin led 70 members in the seventh rotation of the Bangladesh Formed Police Unit (BANFPU-1), while Commander (Superintendent of Police) Muhammad Abdul Wahab led 70 members of the third rotation of the BANFPU-2.
Deputy Inspector General (Welfare) Md Bashir Uddin Ahmed and officials of the UN Affairs Operations Wing were present at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to see off the team.
The members of Bangladesh Police have been serving the UN peacekeeping mission in Bamako, the capital of Mali, since 2013, the press statement read.
