Bangladesh national football team defeated Nepal 2-0 in the first match of the Mujib Borsho Fifa International Friendly series. Jamie Day, the head coach of Bangladesh team, is really pleased to have the players fit and said that they wanted to check the bench strength as well.
"There was no injury concern. It's really pleasing to have all the players in good shape. We are making a comeback to the field after eight months. It's a great victory despite all obstacles," Day said.
"They (Nepal) were without three key players. Still, they are a good side. Even we did not play our best eleven. They increased the pressure in the second half but we played pretty well. It was a tough game," he added.
The two goals were scored by Nabib Newaz Ziban and Mahbubur Rahman Sufil. Day was all praises for them. "The goals were very good. The first one was set up really well. The cross from Saad (Uddin) was accurate and the finish from (Nabib Newaz) was great. The second one was spectacular. The defenders were beaten by pace and Sufil finished with a cool head," Day mentioned.
Day admitted that the support of the crowd was important but said that they should've maintained social distancing: "The support was important. I hope that it will sustain in the next match as well. But they should've maintained social distancing in the gallery (laughs)."
