Walton awards Tk1 lakh to families of cops who died battling Covid-19

The Walton Group has awarded Tk1 lakh to each of the families of the policemen who died after being infected by the novel coronavirus while performing their duties.

So far 14 policemen have died from Covid-19.

A representative of the Walton Group handed over the grant money to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed at police headquarters on Thursday. 

Habibur Rahman, deputy inspector general of Dhaka Range, and other senior police officers were also present at that time.

Mentioning the important and outstanding contribution of police in the ongoing battle against Covid-19, the representative of Walton Group said they were happy to stand beside Bangladesh Police.

At the event, the IGP expressed his gratitude and thanked Walton for its support.
