A doctor at Brahmanbaria district jail has tested positive for coronavirus.
His test report reached the local civil surgeon's office on Sunday afternoon.
Civil Surgeon Mohammad Ekram Ullah confirmed the matter and said that the doctor had been infected with the virus while treating patients.
He will be kept in isolation, Ekram added.
Samples were collected from the doctor on April 30 after he showed symptoms of Covid-19. With his infection, the number of coronavirus patients in the district now stands at 46.
The young doctor was earlier posted at Nasirnagar Upazila Health Complex. He was later given duties at the jail.
