Grameenphone has received an award for its performance in the Visa cards and payment business.

In a press statement, GP said that the mobile operator had won 'Excellence in E-commerce Merchant Acceptance' at the Visa Excellence Awards 2019-2020 for the highest number of Visa transactions in the country.

The achievement recognises GP's efforts in innovation and digitalisation through its digital assets like MyGP, GP Web, GPAY, Online Shop, and Skitto, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The award signifies a recognition of Grameenphone's customer-focused operational designs inspired by their endeavors to explore the endless possibilities on the connectivity horizon, it added.

The announcement was made at the 'Visa Leadership Conclave: Digitising Bangladesh' held virtually on 15 October.

During this event, awards in multiple categories were handed over to the country's leading brands in recognition of their excellence in performance and partnership.

Commenting on this success, Chief Digital and Strategy Officer of Grameenphone, Solaiman Alam, said, "Grameenphone always thrives in bringing innovative solutions to add value and convenience to customers' lives. In this regard, we are facilitating and encouraging cashless transactions, ensuring privacy, security with strong encryptions."

"Visa has recognised our efforts and our digitally savvy customers with this prestigious award. We dedicate this award to our customers with a firm commitment to unfold new possibilities for a better tomorrow," he said.

Every year, Visa recognises its partners, affiliates, and merchants for their brilliance, integrity, and compatibility with these awards to enhance collaborative initiatives.
