Travel home for Eid safely with Uber Intercity

As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, Dhaka's neighborhoods begin emptying out because residents start traveling back to their hometowns for spending the festive season with their family and friends. This Eid, however, the rising number of Covid-19 cases, coupled with limited transport options for intercity travel, are making seamless outstation travel a challenge.

To ensure transport is the least of your worries this Eid, Uber has resumed its Intercity service to provide affordable, convenient and safe rides so that you can be with your loved ones and not let the ongoing pandemic dampen Eid festivities. Uber Intercity is designed to support people's car-rental needs, regardless of distance and time, to ensure riders have a reliable yet economical travel solution for their outstation trip, all at a touch of a button.

With Uber Intercity, you can keep Uber's best in class drivers and sedans for up to 10 hours. This should give you enough time to finish any errands you might have before heading to your hometown, make stops along the way to meet friends or pick up gifts as you head home to celebrate Eid with your family.

Uber Intercity is truly an on-demand 24x7 experience, so whether your travel plans are last minute or need rescheduling, you can book the service at your convenience. The service is available for pick ups from the Dhaka metropolitan area to Gazipur, Savar, Narayanganj, Mawna, Munshiganj, Mawa, Mymensingh and Narsingdi.

To maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene, all Intercity trips will follow a comprehensive set of safety measures including an interactive Go Online Checklist for both riders and drivers, a mandatory mask policy for riders and drivers, industry first pre-trip mask verification selfies for drivers, an updated post-trip feedback mechanism and a cancellation policy. Aimed at building a new product experience during these challenging times, the new features have been formulated to help protect everyone, every time they use Uber. To ensure social distancing while travelling in an Uber, the company has also instituted new seat limits allowing only two riders to travel in the rear seat of a car other than the driver.

Uber Intercity not only allows you to travel and spend Eid with your loved ones but also enables driver partners to earn a livelihood after the lengthy lockdown to celebrate the festival with theirs. Praying for peace and prosperity, let's enjoy this Eid-ul-Adha like the way we used to do.

How Uber Intercity works:

  • Open your Uber app and enter your destination which is outside of the Dhaka Metropolitan Area. Now you'll be able to see the Uber Intercity option pop up on your screen

  • Once everything looks good, tap request

  • Remember, your Intercity ride is payable by cash only

  • Tolls & parking charges if any are payable directly in cash (not included in the fare)

  • You can keep your Uber with you for as long as 10 hours

  • And off you go!
