A Barguna court on Thursday set January 1 as the next date for framing charges against 10 adult accused in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case.

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Barguna District and Sessions Judge Court set the date after hearing the petition on framing charges.

"All 10 accused, except Md Musa, were present at the court. Musa is absconding," said plaintiff's lawyer Majibul Huq Kislu.

He added, "The court also rejected the bail plea of two adult accused – Mohaiminul Islam Sifat and Md Sagor."

The adult accused in the case are Rakibul Hasan Rifat, 23, Md Musa, 22, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, 19, Md Hasan, Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy, 22, Md Hasan, 19, Ayesha Siddika Minni, 19, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, 20, Md Sagor, 19, and Kamrul Islam Saimoon, 21.

On June 26, Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in front of Barguna Government College in broad daylight. His wife Ayesha Siddika Minni was present on the scene.

On September 1, the police submitted two charge-sheets to the same court in connection with the case.

In one of the charge-sheets, 14 juveniles were made accused while 10 adults were named in the other.
