A college girl, who set herself on fire in front of a police station in Rajshahi, died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday.
The deceased, Liza Rahman, 18, was a student of Government Women's College in Rajshahi. She was hailed from Gaibandha.
Dr Partha Shankar Pal, the resident physician of the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of DMCH, said the girl died around 7:30 am. She had suffered 64 percent burn injuries.
On September 28, Liza set herself on fire in front of Shah Makhdum Police Station after a dispute with her husband, Shakhwat Hossain, hailed from Nachole, Chapainawabganj.
"On September 28, after a dispute with her husband Liza came to the police station to file a complaint. But after a few moments she went outside and set fire on her body," said spokesperson of Rajshahi Police and Additional Deputy-Police Commissioner Golam Kuddus.
"We are assuming that she was very depressed as the marriage was against her will," he added.
She was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital with burn injuries and later shifted to DMCH.
