NSU students protest demanding tuition waiver, student activity fee withdrawal
The protesters blocked all the gates of the university in the afternoon as their demands were not met
Students of North South University (NSU) on Sunday protested to press home their two-point demand – 30% waiver of tuition fees and withdrawal of student activity fees during the online semesters.
Thousands of students took position near the university's gate 1 in Bashundhara residential area of the capital at noon.
The protesters blocked all the gates of the university in the afternoon as their demands were not met.
A protesting student of the university told The Business Standard that the students had taken position at all the entrances to the university since afternoon.
Earlier in the day, thousands of students took position near gate 1 of the university. They were seen holding various types of placards.
The protesting students demanded 30% percent waiver of tuition fees and withdrawal of student activity fees for the new semester starting from October 22.
North South University Vice-Chancellor Professor Atiqul Islam was unreachable despite numerous attempts.
