Police has arrested an Ansar member accused of torturing a child by inserting a stick inside his anus on Thursday.

When notified, police immediately recovered the child and took him to the hospital. They later detained Ansar Rubel Sardar, from Barishal, for interrogation and arrested him.

Mohammad Mohsin, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station has stated that police are trying to find out what motivated the ansar to commit such a heinous crime.

The OC also said, "As far as we know, the child went to play at Gangapara (of Patharghata area) when Rubel Sardar hit him with a stick."

Our investigation will determine next steps, he added.
