Operations was conducted at least in 22 markets of Dhaka under 9 officials of NCRPD.

13 businesses fined in Dhaka

Thirteen businesses in different markets in Dhaka were fined Tk26,500 on Saturday for cheating in weight and charging higher prices.

Officials of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate (NCRPD), Dhaka division conducted the drive under the direction of Bablu Kumar Saha, managing director of NCRPD.

The drive was conducted in 22 markets.

Market monitoring drives were conducted outside Dhaka too. The division and district officials of NCRPD ran drives in 66 markets outside the capital.

Bablu Kumar Saha said, "We are monitoring markets both in towns and villages."

"Ramadan is knocking at the door, so we are seeing to the matter that no traders can create instability in the commodity market capitalizing Ramadan or coronavirus," he added.
