Crane accident at Ctg port, none hurt

During loading a container for shipment of export goods on a container ship at Chattogram port, the gear crane of the ship fell down on a lorry.

The accident took place at around 8:15 am on Wednesday on the ship "MV Mount Kelet" at Chattogram Port Jetty No 13. The gear crane broke and fell on the lorry at the jetty. No one was reportedly hurt in the incident.

According to port sources, the Hong Kong-flagged ship "MV Mount Kelet" from Singapore was loading export cargo containers at Jetty No 13 of the port. The ship was scheduled to leave the port on Wednesday.

Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Md Omar Farooq told The Business Standard, "The container placed on the lorry was slightly damaged, but the ship was not hampered. If all goes well, the ship will leave the port by today (Wednesday)."
