Couple killed in Manikganj bus crash

A man and his wife were killed and 10 others were injured in an accident in Muljan area of Manikganj Sadar upazila on the Dhaka-Aricha highway on Thursday morning.

The deceased Yasmin Begum, 40, was working in the billing sector of the Muljan Palli Bidyut office. Yasmin's husband Humayun Ahmed was an official of Dhaka City Corporation.

Abdur Rashid Mrida, senior general manager of the Manijganj Palli Bidyut office, said, "Humayun was taking Yasmin to the office on a motorcycle. At that time their motorcycle was hit by a Paturia-bound Golden Paribahan bus in front of the office gate."

Humayun died on the spot. After taking Yasmin to Manikganj District Hospital, the doctor on duty declared her dead.

Golra Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Monirul Islam, said, "Police were sent to the spot after receiving information about the accident. Details will be informed later."

The bodies and injured bus passengers were taken to the Manikganj District Hospital.
