Chattogram Development Authority demolishes around 100 illegal establishments

The Chattogram Development Authority on Tuesday demolished around 100 illegal establishments erected occupying a canal at Jamal Khan area in the city.

Ahmed Moinuddin, executive engineer and project director of Chattogram Development Authority, said, "In the daylong drive, they demolished around 100 illegal buildings constructed on the canal. Most of those were residential buildings and restaurants."
"They are implementing a project to mitigate the waterlogging problem in the port city", he added.
On April 9, 2018, the Chattogram Development Authority signed an agreement with the Bangladesh Army to implement the project, he said adding that initially, they have set a plan to build a 300-kilometre sewer line and dredge 36 canals.
